When possible, assume a leadership role in <br />alliances. <br />Program 16.2: Work with PG&E to design and locate appropriate expansions <br />of the gas and electric system. <br />Policy 17: Minimize the visual impact of distribution and transmission lines and <br />facilities. <br />Program 17.1: Underground local serving electrical transmission and <br />distribution lines in residential and commercial areas where feasible. <br />Program 17.2: Place new regional serving transmission and distribution lines <br />underground, wherever feasible. <br />Program 17.3: Design utility substations in a visually appealing structure, and <br />minimize their impact on nearby residential areas. <br />Goa12: Save transportation energy by implementing a more effective transportation <br />system. <br />Policy 18: In conjunction with the Pleasanton Unified School District, consider <br />instituting a school transportation program. <br />Program 18.1: Learn why parents are driving children to school. <br />Program 18.2: Consider using hybrid powered school buses, fuel cell powered <br />school buses, or other energy efficient school buses. <br />Policy 19: Coordinate with the different transportation agencies in and near Pleasanton to <br />enhance the transportation system and create a seamless transportation system. <br />Program 19.1: Evaluate upgrading ACE (by increasing the train's speed or <br />frequency) to encourage people to use the train instead of the freeways and <br />work with the San Joaquin Rail Commission to improve ACE. <br />Program 19.2: Reconsider "City Car" (car sharing) at the Pleasanton BART <br />station. <br />Page 13 <br />April 19, 2005 <br />
