17
THETHE CIT
- ~ CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PL£~S~4NTONe
June 5, 2007
Public Works Department
TITLE: LIVERMORE AIRPORT NOISE MONITORING PROGRAM
SUMMARY
The City of Livermore had previously requested that the City of Pleasanton participate
financially in the cost of installing permanent noise monitors to measure the impacts of
Livermore Airport aircraft on local residents. The City Council tabled action on
participating financially in the funding for the noise monitoring system, and requested
that this item be discussed at aLivermore-Pleasanton Liaison Committee meeting. As
a result of two liaison meetings, the representatives unanimously supported bringing
this issue back to the two Councils for consideration of a modified noise monitoring
program. This report provides background and describes the proposed noise
monitoring program.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve the staff recommendation to proceed with Option 2 for implementation
of a noise monitoring system.
2. Direct staff to work with Livermore staff to jointly prepare a Request for Proposals
for the installation of a noise monitoring system, and to return to the City Council
for action after the proposals are received.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Future approval of a noise monitoring program will have an impact on the operating
budget. The extent of this impact will be determined at a future City Council meeting
when the noise monitoring contract is considered.
