ATTACHMENT 6
PUBLIC COMMENT
----Original Message-----
From: webmasterC~ci.pleasanton.ca.us
[mailto:webmaster~ci.pleasanton.ca.us]
Sent: Monday, May 21, 2007 5:16 PM
To: Mary Lu Campbell
Subject: [PLSWEB] Granny Unit Problem
City of Pleasanton Website - Contact Us Online
Name: Linda Garbarino
Email: lindagarbarino@comcast.net
Category: Mayor and City Council
Subject: Granny Unit Problem
Comment:
We are very concerned about a move afoot to break apart
single lots that were approved for a "granny" unit into two
separate homes! This is seen by us as another way to
introduce the multiple homes concept on a single lot. We
have codes and GP regulations that prohibit this, yet, this
concept will come to you for approval. How can this be
approved? This along with the General Plan overlay opens
the floodgates for building more homes on smaller lots.
This is part of a plan that developers seek to get past you
for not only the downtown residential areas but those lots
southeast of Main Street. The Overlay plan needs to support
the current General Plan of 6500 sq. ft. lots for single
family homes.
The Planning Dept. is in support of this proposed
reduction in lot size, but they are clearly not
representing the residents of Pleasanton who do not want to
see zero lot line housing. Please do not compromise in any
way. We are hoping that your good judgment will prevail in
any recommendation you make to the Council. Our
neighborhood is keenly interested in protecting our
investments and in supporting the current single family lot
size requirements in the current General Plan. Retroactive
approval to split off granny units as single family homes
should not be allowed.
Please rethink the impact of these plans as they are
presented to you. We will stay in touch with you. Thanks,
Linda and George Garbarino
