There was discussion regarding the traffic load and pattern on Black Avenue. Mr. Aielli stated that the traffic load on Black Ave. is below maximum. Alan Campbell reported that the street has a 60-foot right-of-way and 40-foot curb-to-curb with two lane. parking. The traffic caused by the increases use of the Recreational Center was discussed. Mr. Campbell stated that this street will eventually be a major arterial and that a traffic signal at this corner will be neces- sary anyway with normal growth, and for the time being sees no problem with traffic. Mr. Aiello stated that there will be additional parking to be developed when the facility expands. Bob McSwiggin, representing the applicant, stated that his report included with the staff report, was based on figures in other centers, and he used the closest estimate. Discussion arose regarding the approved convalescent hospital adjacent to the pro- posed facility, and in regard to the additional traffic. Commissioner Hirst stated that he would .prefer to see the same use on the corner of Santa Rita Road and it would improve said street and he opposed the traffic on Black Avenue. The Commission emphasized although this is in a P District, this is not a business office and there will be no truck traffic. -2-
