4y~~s""~~~ CITY of PLEASANTON
~ ~'i .
.~
`~~~° Plannong Commission
`~l.MfD f
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte : August 24, 1971
Time : 8:10 PM
PIO C8: Pleasanton Justice Court
either party and suggested that theme should
be no need to remove the multiples as they
are not scheduled to be built very soon. Mr
Fairfield gave an affirmative answer to
Commissioner Hirst's inquiry regarding their
intention to dedicate park land to the City.
At this time members from the audience
addressed the Commission.
Ed McDonald, 1981 Paseo Del Cajon, president
of Del Prado Homeowners' Association. He
stated his organization's concern about what
hind of commercial development is going in
there and they hope that Mackay would take
a second look at this and come back to the
City with some other ideas.
Mr. Chuck Seymour, 492 San Gabriel, agreed
with Mr. Fairfield that some sort of phase
development is necessary. He also asked,
why put the City in a hole and approve this
tonight? A lot has happened since 1968-69
since the tentative was approved. He furthe
asked, do we have these services and capacit
to take care of hundreds of additional units
He stated that we have school sites, but
schools will be a long time in coming.
Fairlands is projected to start next Novembe
and that school will open in September 1972
and that is the last school we can carry on
our own. We will need state support for any
other school we build. Will the people of
California pass these school bonds? He was
concerned about the impact new development
here would have as far as schools and sewers
are concerned.
Ted Lannin, 5372 Ridgevale, asked how this
project would affect VCSD. Mr. Fairfield
reported that VCSD is assuming that this
project is a reality. They show the whole
project as already zoned. Until this questi n
had arisen, not too many people had known
that it wasn't zoned. This is not something
new and VCSD is aware of it.
- 8 -
