4y$A3l~ly?~,L
CITY of PLEASANTON
~~ o
.~.:o~.~ Piannrng Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGie January 25, 1972
Time : 7:u~0 P.M.
PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court
Mr. Victor Bailey, 4565 Black Avenue,
expressed similar concern and asked about
the those homes which would be adjacent to
the railroad tracks and be inconvenienced
by the noise. He once again expressed his
conviction that this parcel should have
remianed in the Industrial District.
Mr. Lake then spoke in rebuttal to Messrs.
Seymour and Bailey's remarks.
He felt that the school children would walk
along the greenbelt areas to the school
bus stop. These areas could be improved
so that the children can come down and
through the parkway system and to the
intersection across Valley Avenue.
Regarding the homes abutting the railroad
tracks, this factor is of concern to the
City and FHA as well. There is heavy
buffering planned and the homes will be
set as far back from the tracks as possible.
He cited, as an example, the homes in the
Atherton-Hillsborough area, where the
Southern Pacific lines back up to certain
of the lots in that Peninsula area.
Certainly the value of those homes has not
been damaged by these railroad lines.
Further discussion ensued on pathways for
the school children. Mr. Lake promised a
pathway system for the school children,
this to be improved during the first phase
of development.
He further emphasized that there will be
no break in the phasing of improvements.
There being no further discussion, the
Public Hearing was closed.
Commissioner Wood asked whether this resi-
dential development, would jeopardize
possible commercial/industrial development
11.
