The Public Hearing was then opened. ,Commissioner Hirst noted that the proposed sign will be within the street right-of-way ~~for the future realignment of Main Street. 'Discussion followed. IMr. Arch Papich, the sign salesman for Cummings & Company, demonstrated colored rendering of the display. He also demonstrat d a rendering showing the profile of the sign in its actual size in relation to the main building. Mr. Papich told the Commission that they attempted to coordinate the sign with the balance of the property. The base of the sign is 3~ ft. high, and the top of the sign is 6~ ft. from the ground. Mr. Papich advised that the time and temp. symbols will flash once every 30 seconds; it will be illuminated with 25-watt incandescent bulbs. This is the minimum recommended by the manufacturer for a sign of this type. Mr. Ted Mann of Franklin Savings & Loa n, explained that he had conducted a semblance of a survey - that when people went into the office to transact business, they were asked for their opinion of the proposed sign. He received 27 in favor and 2 opposed. The Public Hearing was then closed. -8-
