4y~,~-saNTOy <br />.~; <br />~~o <br />.o <br />~wMi9 s <br />CITY of PLEASANTON <br />Planning Commission <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />Date May 9, 1972 <br />Time : 8:2s PM <br />PIaCe: Pleasanton Justice Court <br />'Secretary Castro told the Commissioners that <br />the staff had a real problem in the enforce- <br />ment of window signs in shopping centers. <br />This City requires each shopping center to <br />submit an overall signing program for approv <br />to establish design continuity. <br />The problem comes with special sales and/or <br />lettering on the window. <br />Specific areas of concern were in the Alpha <br />Beta Center - the barbershop and the pickup <br />truck parked there with a sign on it. <br />It was finally determined that a 11 specials <br />should be permitted a certain length of time <br />after which they would have to be removed. <br />Signing that is up for any length of time <br />would have to be construed as permanent sign <br />ing and must be included in the overall sign <br />area allowable for the site. In that case, <br />application would have to be made to the <br />Design Review Board for approval. <br />The Commissioners felt that the sign ordina <br />should be enforced and wilful violations <br />would have to be penalized. <br />It was the consensus of the Commission that <br />overall, the signing enforcement program has <br />been successful. <br />Commissioner Wood requested that a meeting <br />be called between him, the City Manager and <br />Mr. Castro to discuss guidelines for politics <br />signs. <br />ADJOURNMENT The regular meeti f the Planning Commissi <br />wa s a d j ourn~a~t., 10 : ~P'PI) A <br />rdo J.
