4y$~BA~T°y CITY of PLEASANTON
~~o
.~.:o..o Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte : June 13 , 1972
Time ; 8 ~ 35 P .M.
PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court
Commissioner McLain wished to know
whether this Reconnaissance Report
will be coordinated with the current
General Plan review. Secretary Castro
informed him that the material devel-
oped will be reviewed by Livingston
& Blayney. As far as development of
any physical plan for the C.B.D., thi
was not part of the contract between
Pleasanton and Livingston & Blayney.
However, an implementation program
is needed now.
Commissioner McLain suggested that the
study be coordinated with the Housing
Authority as far as funding from HUD.
Also, what are the City's plans as
far as preservation of historical
buildings. Secretary Castro advised
him that the City is taking care of
,these matters and has been in contact
with the Housing Authority people.
Commissioner Pons raised the question
how funding from HUD could be obtaine ,
and Commissioner Pereira indicated th t
this funding applied primarily to
urban core areas rather than a com-
munity like Pleasanton. It was point d
out, however, that the City of Pitts-
burg had received a grant for $5 mill on
for commercial and mall systems and
also for historical grants for pre-
servation of these historical sites.
Chairman Carrigan indicated that it
is clear the City could not afford
to wait much longer before making a
final decision as to implementation
of the downtown area.
Reiteration of support by the Plannin
Commission to the staff to continue
with Report 2 of the C.B.D. revitali-
zation program was made.
-4 -
