41'$ ti
~SA"~~ CITY of PLEASANTON
\ ,~ • ~
.~
`~~~° Planneng Commission
~.IM^V S
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte ; September 12, 1972
Time : 8:00 PM
Place: Pleasanton Justice Court
The City Attorney explained that since it is
the Council's intention to zone the Struther
parcel in the Office District, and since it
differs from the Commission's recommendation
as noted in their Resolution No. 1191 passed
on July 25, 1972, it is incumbent upon Counc 1
to return this matter to the Commission to
have them make one final recommendation befo e
taking action on it. This action is consis-
tent with the Government Code regulation
that where Council passes a recommendation
differing from that handed up by Commission
with a vote count of less than 4, that matte
must be reviewed again by Commission before
Council may make a final determination on it
The Council also recommended that Public Heap
ings be set to review zoning for the remain-
ing properties placed in the Study District.
Secretary Castro is still of the opinion
that if the Western Sierra and Struthers
parcels are combined into one complex, with
the additional commercial at the Amador CentE
and close proximity to the Alpha Beta and
Lucky Centers, the purchasing power may not
be adequate.
This situation will be compounded when
Grants Stores goes in at the Santa Rita/West
Las Positas proposed center. There is too
much commercial in the City at this time.
Regarding the Edwin Wortham property, that
should remain in the Agricultural District,
pending some development by the property
owner.
In discussions with Mr. Mel Mack, owner of
the E1 Rancho Motel property, Mr. Mack has
expressed interest in improving his property
It was Mr. Castro's opinion that the most
logical zoning for that property would be
multiple or commercial.
r
-7-
