CITY of PLEASANTON
`+ Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
~ at@ September 12, 1972
Time : 8: oo PM
PIGC@: Pleasanton Justice Court
Request of Vic Lund, Jr., for an ordinance
interpretation to Title II, Article 7, Sec.
2-6.37, concerning the placement and operat
of a barbershop in the 0 (Office) District.
Secretary Castro advised the Commission that
in reviewing the Ordinance, barbershops can
be a desirable service within an office com-
plex. If the Commission is of the same opini
a recommendation should be made to hold
Public Hearings to amend the Ordinance to
allow barbershops, but conditionally, rather
than permitted. He further pointed out that
setting and holding a public hearing does not
necessarily mean approval.
Accordingly, the Commission recommended that
this matter be set for public hearing for
further discussion, and a hearing date of
September 26, 1972, was agreed upon.
Request of Mr. Leonard Krill of 1928 Brookt
Way, Pleasanton, to amend Title II, Article
Sec. 2-5.21 (h) to permit chickens, rabbits,
fowl, pigeons, goats, etc., to be kept in a
single-family home.
Secretary Castro read another letter which
was submitted by Mr. Krill indicating that
it was not his intent to request permission
for all the animals listed in the Ordinance,
but only for permission to keep two laying
hens.
It was clarified for Mr. Krill's information
by the City Attorney that chickens are not
allowed in residential areas at the present
time.
Discussion followed on the feasibility of
allowing some other types of animals in
residential areas besides dogs and cats. T
City has ordinances covering dogs, cats and
exotic pets. Perhaps it is time to direct

-5-
