Also, as noted in <br />his report, five charts were presente , <br />as well as two maps - one showing the <br />layout of the Livermore Airport and <br />another showing the downflight dis- <br />tance for airplanes going west to eas <br />to land at the airport. <br />Mr. Schoendienst told the Commission <br />that a series of reports were prepare <br />for the Regional Airport Systems Stud <br />and the Association of Bay Area Gov- <br />ernments. Fourteen (14) alternatives <br />were developed, two of which will <br />affect the Livermore Airport. It <br />was projected that this airport would <br />act as a reliever airport for planes <br />between Los Angeles and this area. <br />Mr. Schoendienst made reference to <br />testimony concerning the Livermore <br />Airport, which was presented by <br />Mr. Harry Perl, Chairman of Livermore <br />Airport Committee. <br />The conclusions reached were that <br />there will be 72,000,000 passengers <br />by 1985, which was derived from <br />revised 1970 census data. <br />It appears from all information <br />gathered that additional traffic is <br />forecast for the airport. <br />Chairman Pons then requested that <br />Mr. Schoendienst explain the reason <br />for his presentation that evening. <br />Mr. Schoendienst is a pilot with a <br />major airlines, and received most of <br />his data from the Regional Airport <br />Systems Studies. He is a concerned <br />citizen, who feels that the City <br />should look into this matter at this <br />time and if necessary, do what needs <br />to be done to rectify a possible ad- <br />verse condition. <br />-2- <br />
