CITY of PLEASANTON
Plonning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
Qate February 13, 1973
Time : 8:os P.M.
Plane; Pleasanton Justice Court
unknown a t this time whether that section
will need to go four-lane or stay as a
two-lane highway.
Mr. Sooby further informed the Commission f'
that the majority of the school frontage
would be a two-lane divided thoroughfare.
utilizing existing paving for southbound
traffic. New paving is to be provided for
northbound traffic. The travel lane north- j
ward is to be 12 ft., and there will be a
10 ft. passenger discharge lane going south.
The bike trail will be located in back of
the main thoroughfare. There will be widen-
ing at the main entrance of the high school ,
to allow for bus and vehicle passenger
unloading. The Public Works staff is pro-
posing to neck down the roadway from the
proposed 12 ft. traffic lane to a 10 ft.
shoulder in the area of the large oak tree
to provide some sort of retainer protection
for the tree for as long as possible. This '
tree is not in too good shape and some
pruning is required if it is to be ~ eserved'
Commissioner Garrigan asked Mr. Sooby how
many trees, under this new design, would be
lost. Mr. Sooby replied that none would be
lost. Commissioner Garrigan then asked whe
the oak tree that may need to be removed,
could be replaced. The reply was that the
City pla ns to include a replacement tree as
part of the project.
A resolution was then offered by Commissione
Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner Wood and
carried, approving the precise plan line for
Foothill Road for that area from Muirwood
Drive south to Oak Creek Drive.

m
~~
-4-
