Some <br />other general information such as <br />places of occupation, people who <br />work in town but cannot afford to <br />live here, and the fact that the <br />population is a fairly transient one, <br />was further told to the Commission. <br />A breakdown between single family <br />and multiple housing was also defined <br />as was the difference between condo- <br />minium density and the typical rental <br />multiple. A chart providing a break- <br />down by types of housing was provided <br />together with an inventory. of poten- <br />tial sites and approximate number <br />of units which would exist at holding <br />capacity figure of 75,000 population. <br />This figure will take into account <br />the commitment already existing on <br />,tentative and final tract maps. <br />Mr. Harris then indicated the most <br />significant changes from the original <br />idraft: <br />~(1) He referred to the initial <br />:'housing element which discussed <br />satisfying the requirements for pro- <br />fviding housing for low and moderate <br />,income people through the provision <br />Hof multiple units. The initial <br />Jmap presented showed 31-35~ multiple <br />units of the ultimate total of <br />21-24,000. The CAC objected to so <br />'I!high a percentage of multiples and <br />;recommended a reduction where possib <br />in relation to tentative and final <br />imaps. The staff worked on this <br />'and produced a new figure of 25.7 <br />;multiple. <br />(2 ) The CAC was opposed to the in-- <br />ference that high densities would <br />produce lower costs, thus providing <br />necessary housing for the low and <br />middle income families.
