He wondered if it was <br />necessary to only have government <br />step in if there was danger to pre- <br />servation of such wildlife, etc. <br />Some discussion followed on this <br />point. <br />Qn Page 9, Sub goal 6 - he wished to <br />know what Class 1 and 2 soils were. <br />Mr. Harris explained. The entire <br />county of Alameda has been mapped <br />by soils, and these two classes of <br />soils are the very best kind for <br />agricultural purposes. <br />On Page 10, Paragraph 2 - he remark <br />on the uneconomic position the <br />farmer finds himself if he lets his <br />land for grazing animals because of <br />the tax problem. He did not feel <br />that because nothing much can be <br />done with the land, that it would <br />justify eliminating it from consi- <br />deration. <br />Commissioner McLain asked whether th"s <br />presentation is in accordance with <br />the other open space elements of the <br />area, and the reply was that it is i <br />accordance with Alameda County's Ope <br />Space Element. <br />Mr. Harris indicated the only confli t <br />existing between the two jurisdictio s <br />is on the western area because the <br />existing element represents our <br />existing General Plan. Alameda <br />County has been attempting to amend <br />the Dublin Hill Area for quite some <br />time and their recommendation is tha <br />it will now be amended almost exactl <br />to Pleasanton's Plan. <br />-24- <br />
