CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
M~NUT~$ ~OF REGU~_AR M~fiTiNG.
DctA ~ December 12, 1973
..Time= s:os P.M.
PiGC~t Pleasanton Justice Court
!location of these properties.'
Mr. Don Sooby, Director of Engineer-
ing Services stated that there is an
old adobe within the area of the
park site which is considered to be
of historical value.
City Attorney Scheidig felt that the
designation for the site be merely as
Park, rather than community or neigh-
borhood park .
Mr. Gale then directed his comments
to the property owned by Walter
Johnson lying adjacent to Castlewood
Country Club. Part of that land
was dedicated to the City for park
lands and Mr. Gale was under the
impression that a density transfer
had been agreed upon between Mr.
Johnson and the City. Mr. Gale
stated that there is some very de-
velopable land on the lower part of
the property.
'Mr. Gale then commented about the
!,general situation on Foothill Road.
',That area is like no other in the
'Walley, and it was always felt that
~~~~it would be developed in estate or
(semi-estate lots. He was concerned
'~ that with the adoption of this new
Genexal Plan that possibility would
be eliminated. He asked for consi-
',deration; perhaps a slope ordinance
(which the City is considering would
alleviate the situation. He closed
phis remarks with the comment that
should the map be designated as open
space, then it would be difficult in
the future, from a credibility stand-
',point, to develop that land in low
''.density residential.
-6-
