~" CIT'Y of PLEASANTON
Pian~ning Commission
MINUT~~ ~OF REGU _AR ME~TINq,
pQ~a = May 8 , 1973
Time 8.15 P.M.
PICFO= Pleasanton Justice Court
--T- -~
Mr. Walter Mills of the Graham=Hitch
Mortuary spoke to this application,
requesting favorable consideration.
Mrs. Bev Hamlin, resident of Wind
Cave Court in the Valley Trails
subdivision explained that she had
originally run a survey of resident
feeling toward this application.
.She stated that 518 people signed the
petition. There are possibly 950
people in the tract in some 475 homes
some of which are vacant at this
time. Of this number, 211 people
were for the application and 307
opposed. Some were not at home,
quite a few were undecided or did not
care. She did not take a poll of
the undecided vote. Also, she did
put up a sign inviting those who had
',questions to call her. She received
a flood of phone calls, most of
which were in favor of the mortuary
;being located in the area. But,
after canvassing within the area,
'and people becoming aware that
the rezoning and plan amendment would
encompass 3.1 acres, of which the
;mortuary would only use one acre,
!the feeling changed.
There being no further discussion,
the Public Hearing was closed.
Some confusion existed among the
Commissioners on the three points
made in the staff report. Discus-
sion followed, not only on these
three points, but on property value,
compatibility of uses and possible
reduction of density within the
remaining portion of the acreage.
-3-
\\
\\~
\\\\\
»~»>
I ',
I I! ~, ~.
I I
...1. _ ,.. i L_ 1_
