M.
PIQ~B; Pleasanton Justice Court
He was asked by Chairman ~ereir'a what
their intent was for use of the re-
maining 2.1 acres. Mr. Spencer re-
plied that in order to obtain the
acre he needed for the mortuary
he had to buy the entire parcel. He
'stated that they were not in a posi-
tion at this time to develop these
two acres but that he would like to
see that it is developed in a manner
'compatible.
Several speakers commented on this
application. Those opposed were:
Ron Wilson, 3457 Cumberland Gap;
Joseph Sitzman, 7199 Valley Trails
Drive; Jim Johnson, 3429 Cumberland
Gap; E. Don Johnson, 7187 Valley
Trails Drive; Sophie Ury, 7221
Valley Trails Drive; Main reasons
cited for opposition were increased
traffic, reduced property values,
possible incompatible land uses.
A Mrs. Jackie Barnett, spoke, indi-
cating that she has a class at
Pleasanton Elementary called, "Behind
the Scenes in Pleasanton." Her class
made a trip to the mortuary at its
present location on St. John Street,
(where they received superb coopera-
tion and courtesy from the people
':running the mortuary. Mrs. Barnett
(felt that the field trip was in-
'valuable to the children in that
,where there is knowledge and under-
standing, there will b e much less
fear. She did not feel, like some
of the speakers, that a mortuary
across from the Youth Sports Park
is a bad thing, as, with knowledge,
children can better understand
this very natural part of life.
\\
\~
\\\~\
»»~~
-2-
