4y$~8~~~°y CITY of PLEASANTON <br />,~ .~,. <br />'~*° Planning Commission <br />~w ao <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />D018 ; July 10 , 1974 <br />Time : 8 = 24 P .M. <br />PIOCe; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />the channel of the Arroyo del Valle, <br />Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, Stanley <br />Boulevard and the City limit line of <br />the City of Pleasanton; and on the <br />west by Martin Avenue and its <br />northern and southern extensions. <br />The Public Hearing was opened. <br />A Mr. John Thorpe, representing the <br />;estate of Jerry and Milton Thorpe, <br />I,who owns about 90 acres in the <br />'..vicinity of Martin Avenue spoke in <br />opposition to this prezoning to the <br />Quarry District. Mr. Thorpe could <br />not see the advantage of prezoning <br />this acreage and reques ted that <br />this item be continued until all <br />property owners could receive a map <br />and staff report of this prezoning <br />process. <br />Some discussion ensued regarding the <br />feasibility of developing the Thorpe <br />property as quarry lands. <br />Secretary Harris explained for the <br />benefit of those in the audience <br />that this entire area has been <br />shown as Rock, Sand and Gravel on <br />the General Plan as preliminarily <br />adopted, and the reason why the City <br />is going through this procedure is to <br />(1) Pre zone the land while it is <br />still in the County, since this is a <br />simpler procedure and because it <br />cannot be put into a Study District <br />at this time since it is outside the <br />City Limits . (2) The City is <br />attempting to establish more firmly <br />the sphere of influence of the City <br />of Pleasanton in relation to Liver- <br />more and the Alameda County. <br />ity Attorney Scheidig stated that <br />ince Mr. Thorpe was against his pro- <br />erty being prezoned to Quarry Lands, <br />-6- <br />
