He <br />'was asked to submit a letter stating <br />'his feelings (which has not been <br />done), however, the caller did indi- <br />cate that he might be at the meeting. <br />IMrs. Whipple was present and con- <br />~',curred with the staff report as pre- <br />'pared. <br />Chairman Wood asked the applicant <br />if the income to be derived from <br />this use was side income and the <br />answer was in the affirmative. The <br />Chairman felt that allowing this <br />type of business to occur in the <br />home would detract from full use of <br />the downtown area, and may result in <br />possible loss of business to mer- <br />chants in the downtown area. <br />Commissioner Doherty remarked that <br />he felt that quite likely, about <br />30~ of the homeowners in town are <br />probably doing something like this <br />in the form of arts and crafts. He <br />could appreciate concerns, but that <br />this application is subject to <br />yearly renewal and if problems be- <br />come apparent, the matter can be <br />reviewed by them again. <br />Commissioner Butler felt that althougl <br />he could share the Chairman's con- <br />cerns about loss to downtown busi- <br />ness, he did not feel this particular <br />application would cause harm to the <br />business sector. <br />A resolution was then entered and <br />adopted approving this application <br />subject to staff conditions, with the <br />-4- <br />
