CITY of PLEASANTON
Planning Commission
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
D a1e ~ November 12, 1975
Time : s:o5 P. M.
F~CCB: Pleasanton Justice Court
The Chairman wished to know whether a tele-
phone is contemplated for the recreation
center and if it will be set low enough for
a child to reach it. Mr. Sooby indicated
that a pay telephone is located inside the
building, however, he did not know if it
was low enough for a child to reach. There
is nothing outside the building.
MATTERS INITIATED BY
COMMISSION MEMBERS
The question of mailboxes was raised.
Commissioner Garrigan felt that the full
force of the City in all efforts to rectify
the mailbox situation should be made.
Council Liaison Member McLain explained that;
the City Attorney is keeping abreast of i
this situation and is keeping Council inform d
of developments. He encouraged citizens to
join with the City to fight curb-side mail
delivery service.
It was the Chairman's position that the
Commission should probably have been noti-
fied of the steps the City was taking on
this situation. Mr. Sooby explained that
numerous meetings have been held with the
post office people and various interested
citizens. Conclusions reached were to,
wherever possible, have the developer take
responsibility for obtaining permits and
installing the curb-side mail boxes. Already
a good number in the Val Vista, Pleasanton j
Meadows and Vintage Hills sectors have
complied. ~
Councilmember McLain voiced one concern,
that if legislation is changed, a new home
buyer may not be aware he will then have to
install a new mailbox on his premises. He
emphasized that under no circumstances has
the City dropped this matter.

-6-
