(5) Eighteen (18) years and over - 12 shifts. 6.4(2) 6.4(3) 6.4(4) Vacation Accumulation Management and confidential employees, except a probationary employee, may be allowed to incur a forty (40)-hour deficit beyond the vacation leave credited to his/her account on his/her anniversary date. A probationary employee may incur a forty(40)-hour deficit in vacation after six (6) months of full-time, satisfactory service. Fire battalion chiefs may incur a fifty-six (56)-hour deficit. The maximum vacation hours management or confidential employees may accumulate by their anniversary date shall not exceed twice their annual vacation entitlement. If employment circumstances are such that an employee is not permitted to take all or a portion of his/her vacation, the employee may request permission to carry over said unused vacation to the next year. Ail hours in escess of the maximum accrual will be paid to the employee at the end of the calendar year. Vacation Schedule The times during a calendar year at which an employee may take his/her vacation shall be determined by the department director with due regard for the wishes of the employee and particular regard for the needs of the service. Vacation PaT Management and confidential employees may be paid for up to ten (10) days of accrued vacation providing however, they have taken a minimum of ten (10) vacation days during the prior fiscal year and will have a remaining vacation balance of at least five (5) days following said payment. Fire battalion chiefs are subject to the same provision as converted into shift hours. Payout may be requested on June 30th or December 31st, but the maximum pay-out shall not exceed ten days. - 9 -
