PLANNING COMMISSION ~ MINUTES September 8, 1982 <br />Commissioner Wilson asked what percentage of the units was reserved <br />for senior citizens. M~'. Matteson said that 40 units or about 30~ <br />would be used for this urpose. Mr. Matteson indicated that the <br />fees paid to the City o Pleasanton amount to over $550,000. He <br />further indicated that he project is now about $300,000 over budget <br />and asked for the City's consideration to encourage developers to <br />come to the area. <br />Commissioner Jamieson a ked Mr. Matteson if he found any areas <br />with tennis courts in h~s survey. Mr. Matteson indicated he had <br />not, not even in Dublin <br />Commissioner Getty aske if people other than the tenants of the <br />complex would be able t use the recreation room. Mr. Matteson <br />said that tenants can c~rtainly bring groups into it. He said in <br />the past they have alloyed community-type neighborhood meetings <br />as well as those of senor citizens, etc. <br />Chairperson Lindsey ask~d if the size of the recreation room was <br />by design or placed as ~ condition by City Council. Mr. Matteson <br />stated it was by designa <br />John Ferreri indicated hat fees to the City are $800,000 while <br />in Los Altos for 216 un~ts the total was only $176,000 and stated <br />that anything the Commission could do in this regard would be very <br />much appreciated. <br />Commissioner Jamieson a ked if outside people could use the tennis <br />courts. P~Ir. Matteson i dicated that people who are interested in <br />tennis would invite the r friends. <br />Commissioner Jamieson a ked Mr. Matteson how this project got so <br />far over budget. Mr. M tteson indicated they thought they would <br />be winning the affordab e housing competition and that some of the <br />fees would be waived anc~/or deferred. <br />Commissioner Wilson ask d what would happen if the winner of the <br />affordable housing comp tition didn't build. Mr. Matteson indicated <br />they would probably rea ply. <br />Mr. Harris stated that the affordable housing competition didn't <br />provide for waiving fee except for the growth management $925. <br />unit fee. He said the ~ity cannot reduce or waive fees to DSRSD, <br />Zone 7, etc. and that s me fee would have been collected later. <br />Mr. Matteson indicated hat a deferment of fees would save costs.• <br />Mr. Swift indicated thatk there is no provision in the Affordable <br />Housing Competition system for selecting another winner. He said <br />agreements have been si~ned and basically the winner has a year or <br />so and by that time the project on Valley Avenue will be built. <br />-7- <br /> <br />
