~y$~BA~~°y CITY of PL.~~AS~~JTON <br />.~, <br />`~ ~~° Planning Commission <br />..o <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />Da1B : June 9, 1976 <br />Time : s:2o P.M. <br />PIOCe; Pleasanton Council Chambers <br />Approved Review of Ark Pre-school Sculpture <br />to be donated to City for the <br />Cultural Arts Building. <br />Al Dutchover, of the Engineering <br />Department, presented a verbal <br />report to the Commission. <br />The Ark Pre-school applied for and <br />received a grant from the Alameda <br />County Training and Employment <br />Board for a Bicentennial Project. <br />The artist, Bob Miller, has been <br />selected and a model of the project <br />was displayed for Commission's <br />benefit. The sculpture, entitled <br />"A Place of Peace," is to be placed <br />among the existing trees on the <br />west side of the Cultural Arts <br />Center. This sculpture is to be <br />prefabricated at the school, and <br />brought over and set in place by a <br />crane. <br />Commissioner Jamieson asked about <br />vandalism and danger of children <br />climbing the structure. <br />The artist was present and explained <br />that to change the design would <br />change the meaning. It could be <br />climbed by older children, but no <br />more than other structures now in <br />existence in the City. <br />Commissioner Shepherd moved, seconde <br />by Commissioner Butler and carried, <br />that Planning Commission concur and <br />transmit to Council staff's recom- <br />mendation to locate the sculpture in <br />front of the Cultural Arts Center. <br />Motion: <br />Seconded: <br />Ayes: <br />Noes: <br />Absent: <br />Abstain: <br />IX <br />-12- <br />
