He stated <br />that he had looked at other locations <br />for his business previously; he had <br />talked to the City and was discourage <br />from doing this kind of business on <br />Main Street. <br />Commissioner Wood asked Mr. Medeiros <br />what size truck would be making the <br />delivery of ice to his lot and was <br />told it would be about the size of <br />a Pepsi-Cola truck. <br />The Public Hearing was closed. <br />Deputy City Attorney Levine suggeste <br />that the Commission should impose a <br />time limit on this conditional use i <br />they decided to grant the request. <br />Commissioner Doherty stated he had <br />concerns that this auxiliary use con- <br />ducted separately from the main use, <br />would be out of character with the !, <br />downtown; that the added traffic <br />could be detrimental to the downtown; <br />that groups of young people congre- <br />gating there and the history of ex- <br />isting disturbances from this problem <br />I~could be further aggravated by the <br />'addition of the ice machine. And, <br />therefore, he would vote against this <br />request. <br />Commissioner Shepherd felt that this <br />kind of structure would be incompatib <br />with his concept for the central busi~ <br />ness district; he was afraid a pre- <br />cedent might be set by allowing such <br />small ancillary uses outside of a <br />main use; and traffic problems would <br />be created due to the campers and <br />trailers entering the lot to get bulk <br />ice. <br />e <br />-3- <br />
