He also brought up the question of department budget, and asked how Planning
Department budget would compare to, for instance, Recreation Department
budget. Mr. Harris stated that for the population of Pleasanton, the
Planning Department is considerably understaffed. Council Liaison Member
Brandes stated that the Commissioners should put in a recommendation at
budget time on this matter, if they have feelings about the department
manpower situation.
Commissioner Jamieson requested a change in the format of the minutes to
pattern it after City Council's style. The Commissioners felt, as a whole,
they would leave it up to staff, who concurred that the Council format
would be more convenient.
Commissioner Jamieson then brought up the matter of City following the
established policy for all their projects, such as design review, etc.
Apparently, this has not been the case, and Harvey Levine indicated he
would have to research the matter as it appears there is an exemption in
the code. There are certain portions of a review, such as environmental
assessment, which cannot be exempted, however.
Commissioner Jamieson indicated that in feedback from the Industrial Com-
mittee of the Chamber of Commerce, the lead time to process an application
before the City is very long. He asked for some type of a composite example.
Commissioner Doherty suggested that, if at all possible, to eliminate any
extra meetings for the month of December, due to holiday season.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the special meeting of the Planning Com-
mission was adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
__ ~o,~~~
Robert J.
