MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION P~IEMBERS
A. Chairman Butler indicated that as part of the growth management process,
an ad hoc committee comprising citizens at large, one Planning Commissioner,
two Councilmembers and representatives from other commissions would be
formed soon. The function of this committee would be to make recommendations
to Commission and Council regarding the form and content of the growth
management program.
Councilman Brandes stated that he had discussed with Mayor Philcox, the
method used to choose the members for this committee but no decision has
been made in this regard, except that the Council will appoint the members.
Chairman Butler assumed the Commission would appoint its own member to
serve on that committee, and that the City Council should probably be the
body to pick the citizen members.
Chairman Butler indicated that he had asked Commissioner Wood to serve as
a Planning representative.
Councilman Brandes also indicated that Commission members should feel free
to recommend names of persons whom they feel would do a good job.
It has been suggested that the committee be comprised of eleven members,
five citizens and six City representatives.
B. Commissioner Shepherd advised the other members that the ordinance
amendment to allow churches and related •facilities in the I-G District
was turned down by City Council. Their reasons were that they were afraid
that the addition of a "non-contaminative" use would discourage the types
of uses for which the district was created.
C. Commissioner Jamieson mentioned that about a month ago, he had re-
quested that the City investigate the possibility of abating the unsightly
conditions at the Berry Farm on Stanley Boulevard. Mr. Levine stated that
Mr. Eschelbach, the property owner, had telephoned him to indicate he would
take care of this matter by the year's end, after which he would confirm
it by letter. To date, no letter has been received and Mr. Levine intends
to followup on the matter in the first week of January.
D. Commissioner Jamieson then asked Secretary Harris about the status of
the Ramada Inn property at Hopyard Road. Mr. Harris indicated that nothing
is happening right row, except that Ramada Inn has renewed their building
permit fee. But, a new For Sale sign is also situated on the property.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the regular meeting of the Planning
Commission was adjourned at 12:00 P.M. midnight.
Robert J. ris, Secretary
-10-
__.... _ .
