D. A letter had been received from Goodwill Industries requesting per
mission to locate a collection center on the vacant parcel at the northeast
corner of Vervais and Santa Rita Road. The Commissioners felt the location
would not be good and instructed staff to offer to work with Goodwill
Industries to find another more appropriate location, possibly around the
Pleasanton Garbage Company site.
MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
A. Commissioner Shepherd, liaison member to the Human Services Commission,
described a memorandum from Chairperson Sharon Kosch, pertaining to a
survey they plan to conduct of approximately 200-300 households, relating
to housing and other requirements.
The following input was suggested - Commissioner Jamieson wished to see
something pertaining to adequacy of housing for senior citizens. This
was to be included.
Commissioner Wood suggested an article written by Edward J. Blakely of
Yuba City, which spoke about life in small cities as compared to urban
areas.
Commissioner Doherty suggested review of the quality of education in
Pleasanton, and Commissioner Shepherd felt this would fall in the purview
of the School District.
B. Commissioner Jamieson stated that if meetings were to run this late,
perhaps the Commission should meet twice monthly.
ADJOURNMENT
The regular mgeting of the Planning Commission was adjourned at 12:45 P.M.
Robert ~UJ(/T~n'Y'is , Secretary
-8-
