Commissioner Jamieson stressed he voted against the parkway design and not
the development.
The people present at the hearing were notified that as a tentative map,
this matter would not automatically go to Council for review, but that the
map is appealable to City Council within 15 days from the date of action
taken by the Planning Commission.
MATTERS FOR INFORMATION OF COMMISSION
A. Secretary Harris notified the Commissioners that the staff is now ad-
vising applicants applying for new businesses that they will first need
clearance from the City before erecting their signs.
B. Regarding the matter of review of a new preliminary map for the upper
Longview tract, Commissioner Shepherd stated he would be happy to sit in on
the committee. But he had some strong reservations about getting involved
at this stage. Chairman Butler agreed, saying City Council should make the
decision on how this should be handled at this point.
MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
A. The length of recent Planning Commission meetings was brought up again
by Commissioner Wood. He thought it should probably be reverted back to
two meetings per month. Chairman Butler offered having the Design Review
Board meeting on another night as they apparently seem to take a long time.
Deputy City Attorney Levine brought up a possibile complication, in that
quite often the same applicant would be before the Board for both design
review and a Planning Commission action, and on occasion, even a variance.
Secretary Harris then suggested several methods where the Commission could
try to cut down on time.
Chairman Butler concurred that the members could examine other methods to
aid in conducting the meetings more efficiently. Commissioner Jamieson
agreed, but felt it shouldn't be done at the expense of losing some of the
openness now existing between the Commissioners and attendees at the meetings.
B. Commissioner Wood suggested that the Commissioners set a joint meeting
with the Livermore City Council. Secretary Harris asked that agenda items
be provided by the Commissioners.
Commissioner Wood did remark that the Planning Commissioners in Livermore
receive a monthly salary of $100.
ADJOURNMENT
The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was adjourned at 11:30 P.M.
Robert J. arris, Secretary
-8-
