PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
April 11, 1979
Commissioner Wilson spoke to R-1-6500, ROD, and one-half of the improvements on
Valley Avenue. Commissioner Jamieson asked that if this property were left alone,
could MacKay make a go of it. Mr. Fairfield responded that it is questionable.
Commissioner Wilson stated that this property is very difficult to develop. It
was stated that if this property could be added to that property previously changed,
it would give the developers something better with which to work. Mr. Fairfield
stated there is no relationship between the two owners of the properties; Ponderosa
and Mackay.
Commissioner Wilson stated he hasn't seen anything anywhere to indicate the R.Q.D.
is not in effect and would like clarification on this issue. A motion was made by
Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Getty that the negative declaration
be filed for GP-79-4 as this proposal would have no significant adverse impacts
on the environment.
Resolution No. 1735 was then entered and adopted approving the filing of the negative
declaration.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
Commissioners Doherty,
Chairman Jamieson
None
None
Geppert, Getty, Wilson and
Ayes
Noes
Abstain
A motion was then made by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Geppert that
GP-79-4 be changed to "Medium Density" Residential.
Resolution No. 1736 was then entered and adopted recommending this change to City Council.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
Ayes Commissioners
Jamieson
Noes None
Abstain None
RZ-77-19, Report to Council
Report regarding Council changes to Planning Commission recommendation on case RZ-77-19,
an application to amend Section 2-7.08(x), Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code
of the City of Pleasanton which would revise comprehensively the schedule of permitted
and conditionally permitted uses in the C-R, C-C, C-S, C-F and C-N Districts.
Commissioner Getty explained her concerns with some of the changes made by the City
Council to the Planning Commission recommendation as stated on the staff report to
the Planning Commission dated April 5, 1979. Mayor Brandes spoke to her concerns in the
C-N District and that some of the changes were made to allow flexability because there
are a limited number of categories you have to fit into. He explained the logic behind
this.
Commissioner Wilson stated he agreed with Joyce Getty regarding Cardrooms and Pool Halls,
Radio & Television Broadcasting Studios, but that he couldn't see anything wrong with
Watch & Clock Repair Shops, Swimming Pool Supplies or Optical and Optometrical Shops,
With regard to the latter it was stated that this category would now come under Business,
Professional and Administrative Offices. Commissioner Getty stated she would like to
see the Card Rooms and Pool Halls eliminated entirely.
