Planning Commission
June 13, 1979
Page 10
of them would preclude any hazards. The Commissioners then discussed the City's
commitment to the applicant and felt the City should stand by that commitment.
Mr. Campbell then addressed the Commission and vehemently denied ever agreeing to anything
with the applicants concerning the water line location while stating they did discuss where
the line should go. He stated he told the applicants that he first wanted to see the
relationship of the two systems. Mr. Maines then concurred that the City did not agree
to anything but rather suggested at the previous meeting the City seemed to support the
tieline. Mr. Campbell stated they strongly recommend a tieline, but doesn't think it is in
the proper place as proposed.
Commissioner Jamieson stated he felt it is a shame that another major change be required of
the developer. Mr. Campbell stated that the time involved is about a one week period.
He stated it is normal for the developer to design utilities subject to the approval of the
engineering department.
Mr. Campbell reiterated a number of concerns having to do with valves, quick draw, fire
department perhaps running out of water at the station should there be a problem, pumping
uphill and bringing the water down again. Mr. Campbell stated the City Council determined
that they didn't want any public facilities in that subdivision. If they do put public
facilities in that subdivision it would do the City no good at all.
Mr. Maines again addressed the Commission stating he has heard the City's arguments but
it doesn't cost the City anything and further no one can tell them where valves and pipes
have failed and that the applicant doesn't know what the City wants any more.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Jamieson made a motion that Tentative Map for Tract 4257, Longview be
approved subject to the conditions of the staff report of June 5, 1979 with condition 4~3,
Recommendations of the Engineering Department, be changed to read:
"That the water system include a tieline to existing water main on the Pleasanton Ridge
and that approval of the system for domestic and fire protection purposes ahll be withheld
pending final designs, calculations and approval of the final map".
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Geppert, Getty, Jamieson and Chairman Doherty
Noes: Commissioner Wilson
Resolution No. 1759 was then entered and adopted.
REFERRALS FROM ALAMEDA COUNTY
None.
REFERRALS FROM CITY COUNCIL
Mayor Brandes stated the City Council recommended that the Planning Commission meet twice
a month because of the amount of cases currently being considered at a recent City Council
meeting.
After discussion the Commission voted to have a Planning Commission meeting the second
Thursday of every month and the Board of Adjustment and Design Review Board meetings
starting at 7:OOpm the seconded Wednesday of each month.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Geppert, Getty, Jamieson and Chairman Doherty
Noes: Commissioner Wilson
_-_-___.- ___..__. _ ___...~_ .T.` _.. _. _. _._ .. _. ._ _...._ __ ___..._
