MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Alameda County Fairgrounds <br />Pleasanton Avenue <br />Pleasanton, California <br />Wednesday, January 16, 1980 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:12 P.M. by Chairperson Gregg Doherty. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Commissioners Present: Geppert, Getty, Jamieson and Chairperson Doherty <br />Commissioners Absent: Wilson (ill) <br />Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning and <br />Community Development; Walt Schaumburg, Associate <br />Civil Engineer; Shirley McDougall, Recording <br />Secretary <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of the special meeting of December 11 and the regular meeting <br />of December 12, 1979 were approved as submitted. The minutes of November <br />14 were approved as corrected. It was pointed out to the clerk that there <br />was a typographical error in the minutes of December 12 concerning Matters <br />Initiated by Commission Members. Second paragraph should be changed to <br />read Chairperson Doherty presented a letter...The clerk noted the change. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION <br />No one spoke. <br />REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />There were none. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION <br />Commissioner Geppert stated he has heard there will be a waterslide at <br />the Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton and asked if this matter will <br />be considered by the Pleasanton City Council. Mr. Harris stated he did <br />not recall this item being part of the proposed capital improvement program <br />of the Fairgrounds and that he has no information on this proposal. He <br />stated he would very much like to see a map of the proposal and has con- <br />cerns about the location. Commissioner Geppert stated he would like to <br />recommend that whenever something of this nature is proposed that the <br />Commission at least be notified of it. Commissioner Jamieson stated the <br />reason why it didn't appear on the master plan is that this is an outside <br />agency that has come to the Fair Board and asked to construct this water- <br />slide and that it is a conception. Commissioner Jamieson stated he couldn't <br />answer how far it would be on Bernal. He stated he would suggest that the <br />Fair Board come to the City and give a plan to them whether it is necessary <br />or not. Commissioner Getty stated that slides like that add a tremendous <br />amount of traffic. Commissioner Jamieson stated there is ample parking <br />for a concession of this type but stated he couldn't address volume. <br />Commissioner Geppert stated kids will be drawn to this location on bikes <br />and he was concerned with access. Mr. Harris stated that Planning Com- <br />missioner DeWitt Wilson is also on the Building and Grounds Committee of <br />
