Commissioner Wilson sugg~ ced it would be a better i__~a for the applicant <br />to put the pigeons on five acres on Mohr Avenue if possible. He stated it <br />would be cheaper and easier and he could have as many pigeons as he desired. <br />Commissioner Leppert stated that it would be inconvenient to go to Mohr Avenue <br />to feed and care for the pigeons especially with a child involved. <br />Commissioner Wilson stated that people who own horses have to travel and didn't <br />believe this situation to be too much different. <br />RZ-80-2, Planning Commission <br />Application of the Planning Commission to amend Article 16 (Off-street Parking <br />Requirements) of Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of <br />Pleasanton to establish off-street parking requirements for veterinary hos- <br />pital uses and veterinary offices. <br />Mr. Harris explained the staff report. <br />The public hearing was opened. As no one spoke either in favor or against <br />this application, the public hearing was closed. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Geppert <br />that approval be recommended for case RZ-80-2. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />Ayes: Commissioners Geppert, Getty, Jamieson, Wilson and <br />Chairperson Doherty <br />Noes: None <br />Resolution No. 1846 was then entered and adopted recommending approval of <br />case RZ-80-2 per the staff report. <br />PUD-80-1, John Caroline <br />Application of John and Joan Caroline for development plan approval for a <br />business park to be located on a 69 acre site on the south side of Valley <br />Avenue and immediately easterly of the residences along Kolln Street. The <br />property is zoned PUD-Industrial (Planned Unit Development-Industrial) <br />District. An environmental impact report will also be considered. <br />Mr. Harris reviewed the staff report and recommendation of approval subject <br />to the 49 conditions of the staff report, three of which the staff would now <br />like deleted at this time. He further stated all the significant impacts <br />of this proposal can be mitigated with the exception of two which the City <br />believes has overriding considerations. Mr. Harris cited conditions #35, <br />#37, #41, #45 of the staff report be put off until the tentative map is <br />considered. Mr. Schaumburg further stated that condition #36 should be <br />changed to 16 feet instead of 18. <br />At this point Commissioner DeWitt Wilson stepped down from the hearing on <br />this case. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />John Van De Roovaart, 4300 Del Valle Parkway, spoke representing the Carolines. <br />He stated that Bob Daily, Bissell & Karn, Judd Hull and Mike O'Hearn were <br />present in the audience to answer any questions. <br />Mike O'Hearn, Habitec, architect for the development spoke and presented many <br />visual aids showing the proposed project. He stated that buildings are being <br />designed to accommodate solar energy and that ample parapets are provided <br />for this purpose. <br />-7- <br />
