Mrs. Vallarino urged the Commission to consider her request. She explained
her family has owned the property for over half a century and that the
property has been zoned and rezoned several times. Mrs. Vallarino spoke
to easements previously granted the City for which she received no remu-
neration and addressed proposed Vine Street which would go through a
portion of her property. She stated the proposed roadway should be
reviewed and deleted. She further stated that the new Pico shopping
center is diverting Vineyard Avenue traffic. She stated that her proposal
would require no extensions of current City services. Further she stated
her proposal will help the growing housing shortage. Acting Chairperson
Wilson asked the purpose of her request. Mrs. Vallarino responded it is
her first step toward development and/or possible future selling of the
property with development approval. Acting Chairperson Wilson asked if
the applicant thought it would increase the property value. Mrs. Vallarino
stated she believed it would.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Getty asked about Vine Street as discussed by Mrs. Vallarino.
Mr. Schaumburg explained.
Commissioner Jamieson then asked if Mr. Schaumburg thought it feasible to
support the use of Vine Street.
