MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION Alameda County Fairgrounds - Cafeteria Wednesday, August 13, 1980 8:00 P.M. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8:55 P.M. by Chairperson DeWitt Wilson. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Gregg Doherty, Joyce Getty, Bill Jamieson, Larry Lindsey and Chairperson DeWitt Wilson Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development; Walt Schaumburg, Director of Engineering Services; and Shirley McDougall, Recording Secretary Councilmembers Present: Karin Mohr APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the July 9 and July 16, 1980 Planning Commission meetings were approved as submitted. MEETING OPEN FOR MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION No one addressed the Commission. REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA Mr. Harris stated there were no changes to the agenda. MATTERS INITIATED BY MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION Commissioner Getty stated the Police Department still did not have any form of identification. Mr. Harris stated a sign is under construction. OLD BUSINESS - Public Hearings UP-80-14, Interstate Uniform Services Corporation Application of Interstate Uniform Services Corporation for a conditional use permit to allow an addition of a 2,500 sq. ft. to the existing nuclear laundry facility at 65 Ray Street. Zoning for the property is C-S (Commercial Service) District. Mr. Harris stated that he has recently talked to Jack Brown from the State Department of Health in Berkeley regarding the performance record of the applicant and reviewed procedures that they use to maintain safety on the site and that he had forwarded a copy of the license under which the laundry works as well as inspection report and that the laundry is working within the limits of their license, especially since Mr. Connelly has been working for them. Mr. Harris said there was one violation concerning a used filter in that it had been dropped at the side of the building and it was emitting low level radiation sufficient to cause a violation of the license and they were cited for that and that this was the only violation of the license.
