MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Alameda County Fairgrounds - Cafeteria <br />Wednesday, August 13, 1980 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:55 P.M. by Chairperson DeWitt Wilson. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Commissioners Present: Gregg Doherty, Joyce Getty, Bill Jamieson, <br />Larry Lindsey and Chairperson DeWitt Wilson <br />Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning <br />and Community Development; Walt Schaumburg, <br />Director of Engineering Services; and <br />Shirley McDougall, Recording Secretary <br />Councilmembers Present: Karin Mohr <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of the July 9 and July 16, 1980 Planning Commission meetings <br />were approved as submitted. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION <br />No one addressed the Commission. <br />REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Mr. Harris stated there were no changes to the agenda. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION <br />Commissioner Getty stated the Police Department still did not have any <br />form of identification. Mr. Harris stated a sign is under construction. <br />OLD BUSINESS - Public Hearings <br />UP-80-14, Interstate Uniform Services Corporation <br />Application of Interstate Uniform Services Corporation for a conditional <br />use permit to allow an addition of a 2,500 sq. ft. to the existing <br />nuclear laundry facility at 65 Ray Street. Zoning for the property is <br />C-S (Commercial Service) District. <br />Mr. Harris stated that he has recently talked to Jack Brown from the <br />State Department of Health in Berkeley regarding the performance record <br />of the applicant and reviewed procedures that they use to maintain <br />safety on the site and that he had forwarded a copy of the license under <br />which the laundry works as well as inspection report and that the laundry <br />is working within the limits of their license, especially since Mr. <br />Connelly has been working for them. Mr. Harris said there was one <br />violation concerning a used filter in that it had been dropped at the <br />side of the building and it was emitting low level radiation sufficient <br />to cause a violation of the license and they were cited for that and <br />that this was the only violation of the license.
