MINUTES
Joint Alameda County-
Pleasanton Planning Commission Workshop
Cultural Arts Center
October 14, 1980
2:00 P.M.
PRESENT FROM THE CITY OF PLEASANTON
Planning Commissioners: Gregg Doherty, Bill Jamieson, Joyce Getty,
Larry Lindsey and DeWitt Wilson
Staff Members:
Robert J. Harris and Shirley McDougall
PRESENT FROM ALAMEDA COUNTY
Planning Commissioners: Lois Rusteika, Barbara Shockley and
Carolyn Tissol
Staff Members:
Bruce Fry, Jerry Wallace and Randy Dean
There were no Council members nor Board of Supervisor representatives
present.
Bruce Fry, Assistant Alameda County Planning Director, stated that
the purpose of the workshop was to get input from the City of Pleasanton
concerning various alternatives related to zoning on property located
outside of the City limits on and near Vineyard Avenue. He stated
there are currently two applications for rezoning of this area and
the Board of Supervisors requested the County planners to do a report
regarding the area so that there may be some continuity and input from
Pleasanton regarding this matter.
Mr. Fry introduced his two staff members who reviewed the Vineyard
Avenue Study, Preliminary Plan, September 25, 1980, item by i-'tem. The
staff presented slides for viewing.
Commissioner Wilson stated he would prefer to see the County maintain the
road. He stated that other areas would be considered prior to the
Vineyard Avenue area if the City decided to annex more land. Com-
missioners Getty and Doherty concurred with this statement addressing
concerns with traffic, sewers, septic systems, and other services to
the area.
Commissioner Wilson asked if there was any input by persons in the
audience.
William Gale, attorney for Mr. Nevis, an owner of one of the properties
in question spoke. He stated his client's application for rezoning is
now before the Board of Supervisors. He indicated his client could
wait to the outcome of the decision of the Board regarding the study
being reviewed today.
Commissioner Shockley stated it is very helpful to the County to
get input from City representatives concerning property within the
City's sphere of influence.
._... . _.....____W .. _.._. .__ _.._....__. _.T,.`.._ .... ......... .... ._ _... _ _.. _,.. ... . ._.... .__.. .._ _... ,_ _. y... .._
