MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
Pleasanton, California
Alameda County Fairgrounds - Cafeteria
Pleasanton Avenue
Wednesday, December 10, 1980
8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 8:45 P.M, by Chairperson DeWitt Wilson.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present:
Commissioners Absent:
Staff Members Present:
Council Members Present:
Gregg Doherty, Joyce Getty, Bill Jamieson,
Larry Lindsey and Chairperson DeWitt Wilson
None (Jamieson left early)
Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning and
Community Development; Robert L. Warnick,
Director of Public Works and Utilities; and
Shirley McDougall, Recording Secretary
Karin Mohr
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Doherty stated there should be some minor changes made to
the minutes of the 11/12/80 meeting as follows: page 7, last paragraph
should reflect that the "Bates property and others on the north side be
looked at for a future mobile home park site;" and that the first para-
graph of page 8 should show that Chairperson Wilson agrees with Com-
missioner Doherty with regard to the 2-1/2 acre parcel on the north side
be for mobile homes; and that in the 5th paragraph of that same page
that currents be corrected to current mobile home site. With these
corrections, the minutes were approved.
MEETING OPEN FOR MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION
John Caroline, 4487 Pleasanton Avenue addressed the Commission. He spoke
to the property next to the Pleasanton Hotel. He presented a drawing
for review stating that Mrs. Perry, the property owner, has contemplated
selling him property from the black line to the center of the creek,
but that the City has put a plan line on the property. He stated
Mrs. Perry cannot sell the property with a plan line and is adamant
she will not make any dedications whatsoever regarding this property.
Mr. Caroline stated two of his associates visited Mr. Harris and found
dedications would have to probably be made to Zone 7. He stated he
has just built two houses on Stanley and doesn't need Zone 7 or anyone
else to require dedications. He said Zone 7 is down the street from
J. Van tie Roovaart's house and they do not take care of the weed
abatement at this location. Mr. Caroline stated he has cleaned up the
creek on Stanley at his own expense. He further stated they intend
to make the car lot a park at their own expense but do not want to go
through expensive survey procedures, etc. if the project is not feasible.
He stated that as a taxpayer when we have the chance to beautify a piece
of the creek like we did on Stanley, we would like the Planning Com-
mission to tell staff that the project is viable and for them to
instruct staff to put this through without any conditions regarding
dedications, etc. He spoke to Woodbridge and the duplication of an old
San Jose fire house there.
...-__.T,r...._. _.. .. _ __ ___,~.. .... _._ _.. ._ __.r.._. _ .. ...
