Don Mahoney, 2820 Longspur Way, addressed Item #10. He said that as a
P-I designation it could be chained off at night. He had concerns with
noises and urged that the property remain as it presently is designated.
Mr. Lenk addressed all of the concerns of the citizens saying they would
do whatever necessary to reduce and/or eliminate any problems foreseen.
He said a zoo could go on an I-P site, as well as other types of un-
pleasant uses.
Items #11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19
There was no public testimony on these items.
Item #20
Mr. Wenzel of BART concurred with the staff report on this and urged
the change be delayed pending studies, Livermore has purchased land
for a station in their downtown and the impact concerning this should
be studied. He asked for more time.
Commissioner Lindsey said it might be more appropriate to change the
site prior to funding. Mr. Wenzel said that funding is coming through
based on the current land use designations.
Vice Chairperson Getty said that things have changed and she didn't
know when BART would be bringing train service to the area.
Mr. Wenzel said the Board of Directors have agreed to bring service to
Livermore by the year 2000. Vice Chairperson Getty said she might be
willing to change her mind if BART understands that we might have
concerns with them bringing BART to Pleasanton as proposed and that
BART legitimately look into an alternate solution.
Mr. Harris said that a preliminary report will be prepared but input
is needed from BART. Commissioner Lindsey said he would like the
report done as rapidly as possible -- 2 months.
Joe Burkhardt stated that the realignment of BART will cut through a
portion of the shopping center site. It was generally agreed that the
alignment of this line would be somewhat following the alignment of the
roadway without being on the shopping center or 91 acre site and the
location would be a floating location and that there is a definite
difference between a station location and parking facility location.
Joe Madden, 3851 Vineyard Avenue, said he couldn't see the point of
any more studies with regard to BART and rehashing nonsense. He asked
that people start being realistic.
Item 20
Wilms liam Kovak, 3124 Weymouth Court, spoke concerning BART at grade or
underground.
-9-
