RZ-81-12, City of Pleasanton
Application of the City of Pleasanton for amendments to the zoning
ordinance pertaining to parking requirements and development standards
for small multi-family residential rental units in the downtown area.
Mr. Harris described the staff report.
Commissioner Lindsey referred to a report he had distributed to the
Commissioners concerning parking in the downtown area. He stated that
this report is not intended to infringe on the proposed changes in
the parking standards for the downtown area in any way. He stated
that parking was surveyed by Art Dunkley, Larry Osborne, Larry Lindsey
and Joyce Getty and one immediate solution to the problem would be to
stripe the parking areas on the streets.
Commissioner Jamieson said he can't go along with the proposed ordinance
change as he doesn't want to change or lower the standards of the city.
Chairperson Getty stated that the matter might be somewhat contra-
dictory, especially in areas such as Caroline's home. She felt that
the core area should be more defined.
Commissioner Lindsey had mixed emotions concerning the proposed change.
The public hearing was opened.
J. Jack Bras, 90 Mission Drive, encouraged the Ordinance Code change.
He said that at one time the downtown area had different parking
requirements than the rest of the City because of its unique area and
somewhere when the parking standards were changed, it was either
inadvertently omitted or changed for reasons unknown. He stated that
the downtown area is unique and that existing problems are no where
similar to other areas in Pleasanton.
Commissioner Wilson said that the Pleasanton Hotel did a property
swap and Community First National Bank purchased property to accommo-
date their needs and others could attempt to do the same thing or
that an assessment district should be encouraged.
A motion was made by Commissioner Jamieson, seconded by Commissioner
Lindsey that case RZ-81-12 be denied.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes: Commissioners Doherty, Jamieson, Lindsey, Wilson and
Chairperson Getty
Noes: None
Resolution No. 2056 was then entered and adopted denying case
RZ-81-12.
Mr. Bras was told that he can appeal this decision to the City
Council within 15 days of the action.
-18-
_ _ ,_
. _ . _. _ -_. _ . .
