Commissioner Doherty reported that he felt that there are conflicting matters in the report. Mr. Harris agreed. Chairperson Lindsey said he thought that the CC&Rs in Pleasanton Valley prohibited such-uses. Commissioner Jamieson felt that 5d as shown on the staff report would be unenforceable at the offset. Commissioner Wilson felt that the lot size should be a determining factor in the criteria. Commissioner Jamieson felt that it appears the City either has to go along with the state or adopt it's own policies concerning this. Mr. Harris said Pleasanton could limit granny flats to certain zoning districts and that one wouldn't want to have all single- family residential districts turned into multi-family districts with granny flats. Mr. Swift said that currently the state allows attached units by adding a small addition but that the City could allow detached as well. Commissioner Wilson did not understand the age restriction. He cited a case of a young person unable to afford her own dwelling and house sits other homes to stay in town. Chairperson Lindsey desired to maintain strong control over what takes place in the neighborhoods. Commissioner Doherty asked staff to make suggestions at detached, attached units and size of lots for granny flats. He said he didn't want the quality of life in single-family neighborhoods to be changed. At the same time, he did not wish to deny younger and senior citizens the right to live in such units. He asked that something be put together that would make good sense in Pleasanton. Mr. Harris indicated that a draft ordinance would be put together. TENTATIVE MAPS There were none.
