MINUTES <br />PLANNING COA'IMISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />City Council Chambers <br />200 Bernal Avenue <br />Wednesday, April 13, 1983 <br />8:OOpm <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Larry Lindsey at 8:00 <br />PP2. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. <br />Rnr.r. rar.r. <br />Commissioners Present: Greg Doherty, Joyce Getty, DeWitt Wilson, <br />William Jamieson and Chairperson Lindsey <br />Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning and <br />Community Development; Richard Glenn, Assistant <br />City Planner; Robert L. Warnick, Director of <br />Public Works and Utilities; Brian W. Swift, <br />Assistant City Attorney; and Shirley McDougall, <br />Recording Secretary with Betty Piper, <br />Temporary Recording Secretary <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The Minutes of the 3/23/83 Planning Commission meeting were approved <br />as submitted with the following changes made by Commissioner Jamieson: <br />On page 8, 4th paragraph strike out "at the offset" at end of senten- <br />ance. Also, on page 8, paragraph 6, 'Commissioner Jamieson felt that <br />it is best for the City to adopt its own policies rather than the <br />State policy." <br />1~'IEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COP~I1"IISSIOPd <br />ON ANY ITEM WHICH IS NOT ALREADY ON THE AGENDA <br />Steve Hughes, 587 Touriga Court, represented a request of Robert <br />Kinney, the auctioneer of used furniture on Stanley Boulevard. <br />Iie stated Mr. Kinney is working tonight and is therefore unable to <br />represent himself. He indicated Mr. Kinney has been a good neighbor <br />and sponsored Little League and is an active member of the Chamber <br />of Commerce. <br />Mr. Hughes presented a letter from the Chief of Police whose <br />department has monitored Mr. Kinney's business. He stated there <br />hasn't been any problems such as noise or parking. Mr. Hughes <br />stated that the Fire Department has purchased merchandise from <br />D4r. Kinney -- 15 mattresses which saved the City considerable money. <br />Mr. Hughes requested that Pdr. Kinney be allowed to have auctions <br />other nights than just Wednesday. He indicated bir. Kinney would <br />like to have the discretion of having the auction an additional <br />night during the week and another on Saturday or Sunday. He <br />particularly wants Saturday, May 21, 1983. <br />
