MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
June 8, 1983
MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW
Commissioner Lindsey suggested that perhaps tentative maps should be
put first on the agenda since the projects have been previously approved
a tentative maps are merely a technical item.
Mr. Harris indicated that a consent calendar could be put on the agenda
for matters not requiring a public hearing.
Mr. Swift recommended against putting tentative maps on a consent
calendar because a public hearing is required under State law.
Commissioner Getty agreed with Larry Lindsey in that perhaps they should
be put near the top of the agenda.
Mr. Warnick felt the engineers representing tentative maps would
probably just as soon have the tentative maps scheduled near the end
of the meetings as they are now.
It was then decided that for the next two or three meetings the
tentative maps would be scheduled early in the meeting to see how it
worked out.
Proposed Street Name Changes in the Civic Center Area
Streets being reviewed are Bernal Avenue, Bernal Avenue Extension, a
proposed cul-de-sac of the current Bernal Avenue west of Harrison Street
and Pico Avenue.
Mr. Harris explained the reasons for the proposal and also stated that the
Chamber of Commerce will also have input to this for final decision
before the City Council.
Commissioner Wilson liked alternative number one except he didn`t like
the use of Bernal Court. Mr. Harris indicated that this has been worked
on by both Fire and Police and they .had no problems with this name. in
an emergency situation.
Commissioner Getty liked alternative number one and Commissioner Lindsey
liked alternative number two.
Commissioner Doherty asked if Pico Avenue was changed to Bernal how many
intersection signs would be effected and how much money would it cost to
change the signing. Mr. Warnick and Mr. Swift responded that there are
only two-three intersections involved.
Chairman Jamieson supported Commissioner Lindsey's preference for
alternative number two.
A motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey, seconded by .Commissioner Doherty
that alternative number two be recommended for approval.
-14-
__.________.___.... ...__.._..__,._ ~.. _.___._ .,___. _ . ..,... _ _ _ . ____ .__ __ . .... .. __ __ _.. t ..
