Commissioner
Wilson acknowledged the efforts and work of the Evergreen Branch
and others who worked so hard on the Century House renovation. Ms.
Bengtson said they will soon have figures available as to the total
donated from the community and others concerning funds received.
Commissioner Doherty then expressed thanks to Ms. Bengtson for
her excellent report. He indicated it would be good if the
newspapers did a report on parks in the City as a lot of people
would be shocked at what is available in this town to the citizens
unless they happen to live in a specific neighborhood
where there is a park. He stated that he has recently taken
a heliocopter ride over Pleasanton and Sports Park is really
impressive. He stated he had visitors from San Diego who couldn't
believe a City like Pleasanton would have such a facility.
Chairman Jamieson commented that there was no press in the audience
tonight. He then announced that Item 7b would be heard next.
REPORT ON GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT FOR REGIS HOMES SITE
Mr. Harris reviewed the staff report and stated the subject site came
about as a result of an unnecessary cloverleaf set aside and that the
proposed interchange was redesigned. A traffic report done by Wilbur
Smith Associates shows there will be a traffic problem regardless of
the use of the property. He indicated modifications can be made
to reduce the level of congestion. If the property contained
medium density the level of service would remain at E. The report
shows very little percentage difference whether the property is
developed at medium or high density residential.
Commissioner Lindsey asked if there are any applications on the
property now pending. Mr. Harris indicated there are no proposals
currently on the site. Commissioner Wilson addressed growth management
approvals to conform to the 1986 benchmark on the General Plan.
Mr. Harris stated the numbers are still out and units are potentially
available between now and 1986. Mr. Swift stated that Art Schumacher
of Stoneson is currently negotiating with a Committee of the
Council for a long term agreement for this property as well as
for the 158 unit condominium complex. Chairman Jamieson
asked which property would be covered under the negotiations.
Mr. Swift responded that it would cover this site as well as
the property immediately to the west. Chairman Jamieson asked about
sewer hookups. Mr. Swift reported that Stoneson has let the
RAP and probably the design review expire with regard to the
158 condominiums as he does not want to build what has been approved.
