MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION Pleasanton, California City Council Chambers 200 Bernal Avenue Wednesday, August 24, 1983 8:OOpm CALL TO ORDER The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Gregg Doherty, Joyce Getty, Larry Lindsey, DeWitt Wilson and Chairman William Jamieson (A1 Arrigoni was also present) Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development; Robert L. Warnick, Director of Public Works and Utilities: Brian W. Swift, Assistant City Attorney: Robert Okamura, Assistant City Engineer; and Shirley McDougall, Recording Secretary. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Minutes of the 7/27 and 8/10/83 meetings were approved as submitted. MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION ON ANY ITEM WHICH IS NOT ALREADY ON THE AGENDA Mr. Hughes, 587 Touriga, addressed the Commission on what he felt Wer~ ~oor streetd ~~mes throughout Pleasanton ~ie indicated, he a expresse is concern to City Council w o suggeste he make a presentation to the Planning Commission for their consideration in recommending a policy to them. He cited Touriga Court, street and drive as being a problem. He requested that no foreign word;; be used unless they are common words such as "rodeo", etc. He asked that several streets not be named the same. He gave a long list of street names such as Woodthrush where there may be a way, street, court and lane. He said usually courts and places are off the main street with the same name and yet Foothill Place is not off of Foothill Road. He He stated that Abbie Street has a lane, street and a court and that in one instance you cannot even get to the court from the street. He said earlier this year there were new signs put up in Old Towne called "A",through "F" streets and he checked with the Fire Department and Police Departments and they never heard of such streets. He called Public Works and they also told him there were no such streets. He urged
