MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />City Council Chambers <br />200 Bernal Avenue <br />Wednesday, August 24, 1983 <br />8:OOpm <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Commissioners Present: Gregg Doherty, Joyce Getty, Larry <br />Lindsey, DeWitt Wilson and Chairman <br />William Jamieson (A1 Arrigoni was <br />also present) <br />Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning <br />and Community Development; Robert <br />L. Warnick, Director of Public <br />Works and Utilities: Brian W. Swift, <br />Assistant City Attorney: Robert <br />Okamura, Assistant City Engineer; <br />and Shirley McDougall, Recording <br />Secretary. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The Minutes of the 7/27 and 8/10/83 meetings were approved <br />as submitted. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS <br />THE COMMISSION ON ANY ITEM WHICH IS NOT ALREADY ON THE <br />AGENDA <br />Mr. Hughes, 587 Touriga, addressed the Commission on what he felt <br />Wer~ ~oor streetd ~~mes throughout Pleasanton ~ie indicated, <br />he a expresse is concern to City Council w o suggeste <br />he make a presentation to the Planning Commission for their <br />consideration in recommending a policy to them. He cited <br />Touriga Court, street and drive as being a problem. He <br />requested that no foreign word;; be used unless they are <br />common words such as "rodeo", etc. He asked that several <br />streets not be named the same. He gave a long list of <br />street names such as Woodthrush where there may be a <br />way, street, court and lane. He said usually courts <br />and places are off the main street with the same name <br />and yet Foothill Place is not off of Foothill Road. He <br />He stated that Abbie Street has a lane, street and a court <br />and that in one instance you cannot even get to the court <br />from the street. He said earlier this year there were new <br />signs put up in Old Towne called "A",through "F" streets <br />and he checked with the Fire Department and Police Departments <br />and they never heard of such streets. He called Public Works <br />and they also told him there were no such streets. He urged <br /> <br />
