Minutes
Planning Commission
9/28/83
Page 2
MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
Commissioner Lindsey addressed the revision in the downtown
parking ordinance done by the Chamber of Commerce. He would
like to see it scheduled and asked if he could make such a
request. Mr. Harris stated he has talked to Debra Strong and
she indicated that these were recommendations from the subcommittee
and she wanted to discuss it further with the full Chamber
and staff has not heard the results of this discussion.
Commissioner .Lindsey then recommended that the Planning Commission
look at the parking ordinance in downtown Pleasanton as recommended
by the Chamber of Commerce subcommittee.
Commissioner Al Arrigoni was concerned with the 'used car'
lot now at Amador High School. Mr. Harris stated that the
City can determine that this is a use not allowed in this zoning
district. He didn't believe that the School District was making
a profit on the use. Commissioner Lindsey stated that Mr.
Hagler said the school district is going to be doing something
shortly about the used car situation. He then asked Mr. Swift
whether or not he has talked to Mr. Hagler concerning this
matter. Mr. Swift said he had not talked to anyone about it.
Chairman Jamieson then asked if the City Council has expressed
any comments on this. Mr. Harris said not any that he was
aware of. Commmissioner Getty said it looks terrible and that
there are boats, cars and motorcycles for sale at the school.
Commissioner Lindseyasked the City Attorney's office to send
a letter to Amador Valley School District concerning cars parked
on their lot.
UP-83-21, Pleasanton Joint School District
Application of Pleasanton Joint School District for approval
of a conditional use permit to allow the operation of private
nursery schools and other private and public educational facilities,
warehousing, maintenance storage and recreation facilities
at the Pleasanton School site, 4750 First Street. Zoning for
the property is "P" (Public and Institutional) District.
Mr. Harris presented the staff report recommending approval
of case UP-83-21.
Commissioner Getty commented that the drawing does not show
the parking spaces provided. Mr. Harris stated that it was
difficult getting the plan from the school district and that
the original plan which is not being used did show the parking.
He indicated there is considerable parking offered in front
and north of the multi-purpose room. The nursery schools have
considerable room for parking off of Abbie Street. Commissioner
Getty stated she had been at the media service center the
previous night and it was extremely dark. She felt the premises
should be lighted. She noted in the staff report that there
are no comments concerning lights or ground maintenance. She
further said nothing is said about signing for the area.
-2-
