Mr.
Harris stated- that staff is now in the middle of its preparation.
He referenced a letter he had received from the Planning
Division concerning the naming of private streets in Cork
Harbour. He then asked for a specific date as to when the
staff's report would be finished. Chairman Jamieson responded
that staff is busy with a lot of projects and that this particular
would have to wait its turn. Chairman Jamieson felt that
Mr. Hughes ideas and the report are important but staff is
working short-handed. Commissioner Getty asked at what
point the street names are determined. Mr. Harris responded that
generally, while not always enforced, they are put on the tentative
map; and that sometimes they are not put on the tentative map
but rather submitted by the developers on a list. The staff
then checks out the names with the County, Postoffice, Fire
and Police Departments. He stated that it can be required that
the developers always put the street names on the tentative
maps and the Planning Commission can review them at that time.
Chairman Jamieson felt this was a good temporary solution to
the problem. Mr. Hughes again made reference to the Cork Harbour
development and lack of street names on private streets. Mr.
Harris stated that the City has not received any complaints
from the people who live in this subdivision. Mr. Hughes stated
he has talked to several individuals who didn't like the lack
of naming, but are involved in landscaping and improving their
-1-
