MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
10/26/83
Page 14
Burt Duke, 124 Castlewood Drive, has served on the Planning Commission
in Livermore and on several industrial general plan committees.
He urged approval of the general plan amendment and asked that
the project proposed be allowed to go forward. He felt the Hacienda
Business Park was the finest development he has seen.
Bernie Libra, 1140 Concord Street, urged the development be approved
to allow the children to be able to work in town when they grow
up. She felt Hopyard Road was beautiful and is enjoying all of
the development of the area.
Kate Wellman, 4565 Shearwater, aesthetically she is very pleased
with Hoyard Road and Santa Rita Road, she appreciates the buildings.
She said she didn't know how many people are on the CBG committee
but all of the people she has talked to are in favor of Hacienda
Business Park. She urged approval of the general plan amendment.
John Davis, President of Air Systems, 1228 Quarry Lane, explained
his business and urged approval of the Hacienda Business Park
and general plan amendment. He indicated the payroll to date
just in his work at the Hacienda Business Park and indicated the
number of construction jobs the project has provided. He said
he has worked with Joe Callahan and the systems he has installed
in their buildings are superior. He said they put in the highest
air systems of any developer he has ever worked with, they being
state-of-the-art systems with the lowest energy costs.
Len Lee, Klamath Court, rebutted the statements made earlier by
Mr. Ebright. He felt Mr. Ebright ignored all of the houses which
were built over the past 20 years. He felt the property has been
industrial for a long time and this was done to keep houses off
of the proeprty. He recommended approval of the applications
before the Commission.
Bill Hirst, 478 Ewing Drive, stated that heretofore he has sort
of stayed on the sidelines assuming everyone felt as strongly
as he did about the quality devleopment taking place in the Hacienda
Business Park. He said he has been here since 1968, was the City
Attorney for a period of time. He said his recolleciton differs
from that expressed by Mr. Pearson. He said they spent hundreds
and hundreds of hours and would like to think it was an activity
not lightly taken when keeping the Hacienda property industrial.
He said that is why he is so pleased to have the CPS-Prudential
people developing the area in such a manner. He felt that to
him, it was a dream come true.
Michelle Dutra, 1695 Calle Santiago, spoke in favor of both the
applications. She said Hacienda Business Park deserves a round
of applause.
Ed Kinney, 5493 Greenfield, served on the City Council 1972-76
and on Zone 7 1976-80 he has been mayor and chairman of Zone 7.
He stated he has followed the progress of the Hacienda Business
Park very carefully and it is high quality. He addressed the
General Plan done by Livingston and Blayney marking the area as
industrial/comemrcial. He said at the time they did not envision
the quality shown in the Hacienda Business Park. He stated
..
T.~.
