14.3 Vacation Accumulation <br /> Any eligible employee may defer up to a maximum of one and <br /> one -half (1 -1/2) times his /her annual vacation entitlement <br /> to the year succeeding his /her anniversary date. <br /> 14.4 Vacation Schedule <br /> Vacation time requests shall be made on Pleasanton Fire <br /> Department vacation request forms. Vacation time shall be <br /> granted by seniority and shall be approved by the Fire <br /> Chief. <br /> Vacation time requested may be split more than once <br /> annually provided, however, that vacation time is taken in <br /> a minimum of one (1) full shift. Seniority shall be <br /> honored on each succeeding selection after all members of <br /> the shift have made a vacation selection. <br /> Effective July 1, 1986, three (3) employees may be off on <br /> vacation at the same time. <br /> If, for example in emergencies, the requirements of the <br /> service are such that an employee cannot take part of all <br /> of his /her annual vacation in a particular calendar year, <br /> such vacation shall be taken during the following calendar <br /> year. <br /> 14.5 Vacation Pay at Termination <br /> Any employee with one (1) or more years service with the <br /> City shall be paid for all accrued vacation leave earned <br /> prior to the effective date of termination. Such <br /> compensation for earned vacation shall be paid to the <br /> employee in one lump sum in a final check. <br /> Section 15. Sick Leave <br /> 15.1 Sick Leave Accrual <br /> During his /her one year probationary period each new full - <br /> time employee shall earn sick leave at the rate of eleven <br /> and two - tenths (11.2) hours for each month of service. <br /> Upon successfully completing his /her one year probationary <br /> period each new employee shall receive five hundred <br /> thirty -seven and six - tenths (537.6) hours sick leave <br /> credit in addition to that earned during probation. Upon <br /> completion of five (5) years service every employee shall <br /> thereafter accumulate sick leave at a rate of eleven and <br /> two - tenths (11.2) hours per month. No employee shall <br /> accumulate more than two thousand sixteen hours (2016) <br /> sick leave. An employee may be allowed a sick leave <br /> - 13 - <br />
