15
THE CITY OF
r m ' u
j~L£~S~4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
May 1, 2007
Public Works Department
TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17.08 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE, FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION, AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AGENCY (FEMA)
SUMMARY
Since the City of Pleasanton has been participating in the National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP), FEMA has conducted a Community Assistance Visit (CAV) every five
years. On January 12, 2007, FEMA's representative conducted a site visit and made
recommendations for revisions to the City's existing Municipal Code regarding flood
damage prevention. This staff report presents the proposed amendments to the
Municipal Code for Council's consideration. Changes to the ordinance are minor in
nature, and by incorporating the recommended changes, the City ordinance will
conform to the model ordinance approved by FEMA.
RECOMMENDATION
Introduce the ordinance revising Chapter 17.08 of the Municipal Code, Flood Damage
Prevention, with a second reading to be scheduled for the Council meeting of May 15,
2007.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There are no substantial changes in the revisions to the Municipal Code that would
result in any fiscal impacts to the City.
