TDA 4.5 Document E(a)
Page 5
The City of Pleasanton Finance Department prepares an expenditure sheet,
itemizing the operating costs monthly. Three (3) months are combined for a
quarterly report. For FY 2007-08, Pleasanton paratransit Service anticipates the
following funding:
MTC 4.5 ............................................................ $ 60,887
Alameda County Measure H ............................. 90,661
City of Pleasanton (local match) ....................... 429,287
Fare box estimate .............................................. 55,000
Total .................. 635_,835
8. Planning and Administration
No planning and/or administration Cunds arc being requested.
9. Description of Unmet Needs
The program meets the needs of seniors 60 years or older, and the disabled of any
age residing in Pleasanton, Sunol, and the unincorporated areas of Pleasanton.
Disabled Pleasanton-Sunol clients who meet ADA qualifications are also eligible
for this service.
During FY 2005-06, 240 new riders used Pleasanton paratransit Service. It is
estimated that at least 150 new riders will register for the service in PY 2006-07.
Service changes cannot keep abreast of the growing need for region-wide
paratransit services, especially medical appointments. This need continues to
increase as hospitals consolidate, doctors specialize, and there are limited HMO
affiliates. Also, local paratransit providers cannot address the ever-increasing
demand for special need transportation of dialysis clients without severely
limiting service to other paratransit users.
As PPS clients continue to age in place, and with 29.2% of the clients over 85
years of age, there is an increasing need for volunteer escort services. Not all
clients have family or friends to assist them to appointments, and a volunteer
based escort service would be very useful.
